Bse

I've just had a thought Can dogs contract BSE? Or is it confined to cattle and then scrapie in sheep?

Any dog that was at risk of contracting BSE would now be dead of natural causes because of course the practise of feeding dead infected animals to cows ceased several years ago.

I will just say this is from someone with a phobia of feeding raw

I was looking at the photos and reading about what is being fed raw to dogs, brain, spine, offal all things that have been implicated in spreading BSE.
While I take on board SB point, I'm still not sure about the whole thing.
Ok in the days before domestication dogs ate what they could get but we don't know what they contracted or suffered with then.
Just a thought from a raw-o-phob!

As far as I know there were no known cases of BSE in dogs. At the time, there was one reported case in a cat, but just the one... and it was believed it could have been due to a different disease entirely.
