Hand-rearing a pup (people really are idiots!)

My sons GF works at BDH as a vet nurse, they had a Chihuahua handed in yesterday, today she gave birth to one pup by C section. The pup is quite large and looks to us like a Staffie Pup tbh.
Anyway he seems healthy even if mum isn't interested, so he's here and will be hand reared, bottle fed throughout the night. Not ideal obviously but you have to try your best.
Seriously what were the owners thinking? I'll never understand the mentality of morons

Yup some stooooopid people out there. I'm guessing (hoping) it was a mistake and the dog had run off.

How comes the owners are not hand-rearing?

They have to sign the dog over to the dogs home to get treatment so the owner is no longer the owner. She would have died trying to give birth naturally so at least this way they have both survived so far.

That has got to be a mistake, surely Surely if you were going to do that type of cross (and Lawd knows why you would anyway) the staffie would be the mother.
People are horrid

Exactly but if it was an accident they could have terminated it with a jab. The pup is the image of the last 3 we hand raised if anything it's bigger as it was a singleton and the others were 4 days old when we got them.

If they had one in that would be the best option but as they haven't...... We can't take it upon ourselves to find one.

He's eating well and she should be off tomorrow but is going in with the pup to see if mum will accept him once she's more comfortable.
