LOL!!

Funny about the German Shepherd in the lift thing. There is a bloke near me with five of them (GSD's), all rescues, and I'm apparently one of the only people to ever stop and talk to him. Most people either run, scream, mutter under their breath comments while moving away or (according to him!) call the police. All because he has 5 GSD's, all of which are under perfect control. People are strange.

Most of my dogs stay on the farm, they have thier nice long walks here and would hate it if I put a lead on them. However Culotte I do take out with me as I like doggy company, we dont have public transport so she has never been on a bus or train, but she is good in the car. We go to the local market every tuesday, and have a coffee in the bar, we go to the beach when we can and go to visit other doggy friends in thier houses sometimes. I have another friend that I often walk with and we try and go to different places and maybe fit in a lunch at a small cafe.

My dogs goes everywhere. My OH is a house hubby, I go out to work, but he takes them wherever he goes, they are never left home alone. If we cannot go somewhere with our dogs, then we don't go there. I would not be happy to go on holiday and leave them, we holiday in self catering cottages that welcome dogs, and we are thinking of buying a caravan when I retire so that we are as free as birds!

Really interesting to hear the variety of places that your dogs do and don't go. Interesting as well that there seems to be a big difference between those who do and don't have cars. I don't drive (yet) so if I want to get somewhere out of walking distance then my dog has to get used to buses/trains. Wish I could drive, would be so much easier!

I agree, I've been quite interested in this. Have to say that now I can just jump in the car with Cookie, I don't think he gets socialised with people in close proximity to him enough any more. Not that he has ever had a problem with people, and I don't think he ever will but my point being that these dog's which go on trains, buses etc will be exposed to a wider range of individuals than what Cookie is going to meet down at the doggy section of the park! When I get my next dog (hopefully Rottie pup) I will have to take up public transport, just so they have the experience.
Wouldn't force it on Cookie now, as he has always suffered from travel sickness, and so with the number of times I have to get on and off the bus it just isn't fun. Not to mention in the case of the car breaking down there isn't anywhere that I could bus to that I would desperately need.

Ours go almost everywhere.
Horses, any nature centre, parks, fields, licky hills etc etc.
They have been to Birmingham city centre a few times....but they are not bothered about bussle and hussle, they come on buses and trains and in the car.
They go to both my sons houses...redditch and stourbridge, and go on every holiday we have............... so they don;t get out much
