Breeding

My vet has said to breed my ckcs on her next season. This is due next February but if anyone has some advice this would be great as it will be her first time and mine also. I want it to be right for her.

I also dont know where to look to get her a little male friend.

Cheers

Serena

I asked him when the best time to breed her would be. He did suggest the season she had recently but I felt she was too young and it was only her second season.

She is quite a randy dog as well and always is trying to mount my 12 year olds sons foot. We would like her to have at least one litter.

Please please please do LOTS of research on this before you make the decision, it can be expensive and disasterous for all concerned. There is some good material on this site, also speak to your breeder as choice of stud dog is pretty important too, not just for the pedigree being "compatible" but issues of health and temperament too.
How old is your bitch? Does the breed club recommend a minimum age? (In my breed it certainly does) Do you have the time, the patience, the money to do it properly??

February is not that far away. There is LOTS you need to be sure about before then, good idea to start now.

She is up to date with all her vaccinations and had a recent health check at the vets. the thing is I dont know what to do next and that is why I am looking for some help before I definately go ahead with mating her.

She is so beautiful and such a loving dog it seems a shame not to pass that on to some lovely puppies.

I think what is being referred to is specific tests relevant to your breed, not general health. For example, some breeds should be hearing tested, hip scored, eye tested etc depending on the inherent problems to make sure that these are less likely to be passed on.
