Frozen raw?

Is it okay to feed frozen raw meat? I have some leg/shoulder of lamb in the freezer and am wanting to clear my freezer out to re-stock later in the year for winter. I have already given my dogs a leg of frozen lamb each yesterday and some frozen chops this morning. In this hot weather, I wonder if they are actually quite nice ... a bit like a frozen meat icepop They certainly don't seem to be complaining and we have had no upset tums yet ... but just wanted to check that it was basically ok.

Thanks.

Same here. I have on occasion given partially frozen, in this weather it doesn't take long to start defrosting anyway and must be nice.

I am green with envy that you can get shoulders or legs of lamb - they are rare here and the cost is prohibitive.

But since I started part raw feeding with Pereg the meat she has is straight from the freezer.

They can eat frozen food fine, often do in the summer.

Thanks everyone. I didn't think it would be a problem, but wanted to be sure.

The dogs are eating like kings just now

Malka - believe it or not, I am not a big lamb fan but as hubby is a shepherd we often have lots of it in the freezer. I much prefer beef ... so should have probably married a cattle farmer instead

I`m glad you brought this up. I have always worried about frozen bones being more brittle and shattering. Do you think thinner bones like those in chicken would be safe?

Mine do have frozen chicken wings and carcasses without any issue.
