Changed Fudge to Arden Grange from Burns....amazing results.

We have always used Burns foods, all varieties and wet and dry combined. Until about 6 months ago Fudge had thrived on it. Over the last six months however Fudge had several bouts of quite painful constipation and often whined when passing amotion. On the vets advice we started to add bran to her food on a daily basis. We saw a slight improvement but not the differnece we had hoped for. After reading several threads on here , and taking Fudge's delicate digestive sytem into consideration, I decided to try a salmon based food. Unfortunately we then had to consider a change of food brand. We decided to try Arden Grange. We still mix with a little Burns wt food and add the bran and the difference is amazing.

Fudge is pooing more and seems to no longer have such a slow bowel and therefore the motions are not as dry and hard. (sorry for the detail)She is passing stools which are a better consisitency and we seem to have a lot less variation from soft to hard. I am hoping that with the better motion this will have a positive effect on her anal glands too.

I just have to remember to take more poo bage out with me each day though!

I will let you know how we get on and if this change is maintained.

Excellent. There is nothing better IMO than finding a food that suits your dog in this manner.

Hi

What good news. I will be interested to hear if the improvement is maintained. Is there much a price difference between Burns and Arden Grange?

When we had the Lab pups the only thing we found they were solid on was Burns, but when we tried the Venison one, Laff's were SO solid he was almost constipated!

I always think you just have to find something that suits.
So glad you have found that for Fudge

Fudge is on salmon and rice one which I will stick to for a while.....

I buy mine from our small local petshop......I am determined to keep shopping there as they are a fantastic shop and are an absolute godsend when it comes to advice etc......I would hate them to close down........They will also deliver. Not sure what their price is for a big bag as we only bought a small one to get going on.......
