Where can I train to be a Dog Groomer ?

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum, hope someone can help. I am looking into taking up dog grooming as a career change, I would love to know where everyone did their training and what they thought of it. I would also like to know of any good residential schools that i could attend to get me started. What do you think of online courses and do they help?.

I am taking a home study course for dog grooming at the moment. It does give me information about cuts and tools to use. But if your doing it as a career i wouldnt recommend them.

thanks Traci which one did you choose? its costing a fortune to go away to school £2800 + starter pack. I think Groomers is going to be the best but the waiting list is so long.

Why not post an introduction in the Intro's section

I'm doing the professional pet grooming course with ICS. Yes Groomers does sound good it depends how soon you want to learn.

I also concidered ICS but thought how can you learn to groom without the dogs to work on. I would also like to watch a professional at work rather than try to wing it. I attempted to groom my little Bolognese, what a mess i made lol, she now goes to the groomers who, incidently, think she is a frise. The Bolognese are not supposed to be clipped or cut but her coat was starting to knot up even though i ran the comb through her every day. I want to start as soon as possible. Sue
