lump

hello all.... again.

maybe one day i will get out of the health section and onto some more of the pleasent threads!!!

Otis has got better in himself and his limp has gone and so have nearly all of the ticks( since fencing off the bush area of our garden and getting sprayed with frontline)

However this morning i found a lump under his skin on his right shoulder blade which i am really worried about (what a surprise says paranoid pete!!!)

The lump doesnt seem to be bothering him but it feels like a small fluid bump and you can see it when he walks.

Has anyone got any ideas on this. I am going to monitor it over the weekend and take i=him to the vets (again!!!!!) on monday if it hasnt gone

Are you sure its a lump, and not just a puppy bump?

Does your vet do Puppy parties. Its sometimes good to mix with other puppy owners.

If he has had tick bites and the ticks mouth parts have not been completely removed it can cause this type of swelling "Lump" if buried in the skin it will not be visable to the eye.

You're not being annoying... I think one of the great things about this board is that the more experienced dog owners can help less experienced people like us - it's better that you ask and get some advice than keep it to yourself I think

Kazz is right - it might be a good idea to find out about other dog owners in you area though, maybe you can ask your vet, even if they don't do puppy parties, they may be able to recommend some training classes or just plain socialisation? Has Otis had his jabs? If so just try and meet dog owners in your area whose dogs are friendly, and maybe ask if they mind having a walk now and again?

Also remember to ring your breeder if you have any problems... I ring my breeder every week and send her updates by email

Don't worry, it will get easier, but you should probably take it easy yourself - remember if you're stressed all the time your pup will feel it and get stressed too

You are not annoying anyone at all. Everyone is happy to help and more than happy to help someone who loves their dog like you Love Otis

I asked because I know you said Otis was your first pup. And sometimes going to a puppy party helps you chat with other puppy owners - each have worries that they want reassurance about. Like a childrens nursery - someone to ask.

Where abouts do you live? Maybe someone on here could met up and walk with you and Otis when he's old enough?

And by Puppy bump I meant you know how fast the run round and sometimes just bump into things maybe he has done that.

LOL Kazz...

Otis, if you check the apdt website (association of pet dog trainers) you will find there are LOADS of trainers in Surrey. Maybe you can ring one of them up and have a chat, I don't know if you've booked classes yet but it's a good idea as you'll meet loads of people who have the same worries as you!

PM me if you want the address, as I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it here
