Why does my dog howl when I sing?

No seriously, I know it sounds funny and indeed it is usually when he does it!
Found out by chance when i La La along to Kylie but what I need to know is...am I upsetting him? Do dogs howl only when theyre upset? If so I will try to not sing around him, only I need to know as my daughter now thinks its funny and will prob start doing it.

Hi Tigger dogs howl as a means of communicating with each other, not necessarily because they are upset. In a litter of puppies one of them may start to howl perhaps because it feels isolated from the dam, and the other puppies will all join in

I think the reason some dogs howl at certain voices/sound is because the sounds just happen to be the same pitch as a dog howling, the dog is attuned to that pitch and joins in.

I used to be able to make the whole kennels howl by pretending to howl

So this is the reason why dogs howl at sirens Finn likes to howl along with an ambulance siren.
