Disgusting dog

This morning whilst out Fred grapped some poop and was eating it, i had gloves on and tried to get it out but he ate it, i was heaving all the way home !! he has had his teeth and mouth brushed with his toothpaste.
He did this as a puppy (ate his own) but this is disgusting;
how can i stop it happening again ? he is on short lead but its all grass, fields and country lanes here, so no way to keep him out of grass

All part of being a dog sadly one of those things many do from time to time and some do a lot.

It's only disgusting to us they seem to love it !

I had some results with putting pineapple in their food but obviously that won't work with other people's dogs. So really teach to leave when told and be vigilant would be my advice but perhaps others have better ideas.

Use a muzzle.

I've tried a lot of different things to stop Toffee eating other dogs poo, but have not been successful ( he never eats his own) If you manage to stop yours please let me know how.

We tried that with one of ours ended up with the dog to clean up and the muzzle.

No laws over here about cleaning up dog poo so you'll always find a big pile every metre or so ... . really disgusting and it makes even the shortest walk take twice as long as it should do!

Chloe used to eat poo and now Georgina although she doesn't eat it wants to roll around in it. I've found I can stop them both from being tempted by telling them "Yuk" (as though you're going to be sick) together with a light jerk on their leads. Other owners I know use the same word and it works

It's a natural dog behaviour that isn't acceptable to humans, your dog is being a dog not a disgusting dog

Teach him a really good leave it with very very high value reward
