Me too. My theory was they were cheaper to keep than kids.

Wow! What are these dogs being fed on? Beluga Caviar? I used to keep an Excel file on our two shonky sheepdogs until the Big Mac computer chewed it up and corrupted all the data, but it gave us a costing of about £280 per dog per year - including annual jabs, bedding, toys - in fact, everything except Snorri's epilepsy treatment (c£55 a year).

I accept that there are folk out there spending these amounts on their dogs, but I've no idea why!!

blimey that seems a lot if they are saying it is £2000 a year. maybe they only surveyed people who shop only in harrods whose dogs had chronic illnesses with no insurance?

Hmmm, makes me wonder though. This study was done by an insurance company - no doubt, they're factoring in vets costs? Call me an old cynic, but it makes me wonder if it's not just good advertising (scare mongering) for people to take out insurance??
