Diarrhoea

Hi all,
My 3 year old staffie which i have just rescued has diarrhoea, now i think its because of change of environment or stress, how do i cure this? Any help will be greatly appreciated

If a dog is having trouble keeping anything down or continuing diarrhea try this out of the manual I have from a large, knowledgeable dog guide school.

Bland recovery diet for dogs.

3 parts cooked rice, one part boiled hamburger or chicken, or cottage cheese. I think you can substitute boiled potatoes for the rice. Once in an emergency, we bought a plain baked potato from Wendy's.

This is meant for short time settling a dog's digestive tract. It is not the complete and balanced diet they need long term. I have seen it work.

In my opinion, nothing for 24 hours (except water, of course) then a bland diet of chicken and rice for 2-3 days.

That should sort it out.

Thankyou all for your help, it is greatly appreciated, i will try the water thing today and then tomorrow i shall do the rice and chicken (no doubt she'll love that) lol.

If your dog is new to you it could possibly even be the change in water that is causing the problem.
White fish and rice is the best option for a few days until all the stress and changes are settled
Stress is the biggest cause of tummy upset in a new dog
Some dogs don't get on with chicken, so best to avoid this for a while

whenever my dogs have had the runs, I feed scrambled egg and boiled rice....clears up every time

Hay I would starve to 24 hours, then feed little chicken or white fish for the next 24 hrs in about 6 meals. What are you feeding and what was she on before? Make sure she drinks syringe if needs be I had to do this with suki wen she was spayed she was so knocked out for 2/3 days.

She was on wagg before we got her from Dogwatch UK. We phoned up the people we got her from and they told us to put her on wagg sensitive, this hasnt helped either, i've not fed her anything today (she wont like me for that) lol, but i shall try all the suggestions thankyou.
