acl surgery recovery time

I have a large breed dog five weeks post surgery, still limping.
Has anyone had a dog limp for this long after this repair.

What type of surgery did he have?

I believe those that have TPLO recover faster, even though the op is more severe.

My dog (medium sized breed) had the the other method -a replacement artificial ligament. It took several months for her to be totally comfortable on it.

If you have doubts, go back and get it checked by the vets. Make sure you check with him whether you've got the exercise regime right - you don't want to be over doing it, but do need to start building up the use. Swimming is a very good way of building up the muscles without putting too much strain on the joint.
