Agree with everyone else-
well done firstly for asking for advice and secondly for being able to accept it-I can see that you have Antons best interests at heart.
Wish everyone could be like that when they have a problem with their pet.
Keep us updated and good luck
from Maureen

I feel for you and your grandparents because this is a worrying and stressful time, BUT.........remember this - lots and lots of dogs are untrustworthy, and it is just a question of managing that little flaw in their character!

Our last dog, a rescue collie X, was absolutely appalling. She couldn't be trusted with my husband, let alone strangers, and we very quickly learned that whenever anyone paid us a visit she had to be kept well away. One does feel rather resentful having to do this, because after all it is the dog's home; however much better to completely avoid a possible snap or bite and the consequences of such action.

There are many rehomed dogs who have deep psychological issues that we can only guess at, and sometimes those issues result in unpredictability. It's not the fault of the dog, nor of the new owners, and to my mind the best option is to remove the dangerous situations. Of course, behaviour therapy may work and good luck with that, but don't despair if it doesn't because there are always ways around things.

I really hope that things can be resolved without the need for rehoming Anton.

Hey again everyone, just thought I'd give you a quick update on the situation.

There have been no further incidents as we have been managing Anton carefully, and we have a behaviourist visiting on the 11th of April to help us learn to correctly manage and curb Anton's behaviour towards visitors.

Great, sounds good! Where did you get the behaviourist from, if you don't mind me asking?

Good that all is well.

The behaviourist is from the Happy Pets Behaviour and Training Centre in Norwich - I wanted to make sure we found someone who had a lot of experience and used postitive techniques, so I did my research and a bit of asking around and this place seemed to be the best.

Attila is BRILLIANT, have you ever seen any of his HWTM routines?

I have been lucky enough to have spent the weekend with him when both of us were on a course and he is a very talented man in very many areas but he specialises in aggression.

GREAT choice!

Brilliant, glad looking around paid off. I'm really looking forward to having someone with a lot of experience set us straight.

I haven't yet seen any of his HWtM routines, though I have seen a few photos of him doing it - I'll have a look now.
