Sabrina ~ Doe-eyed Little Poppet - 8yo Dark Brindle Greyhound

SABRINA

Meet Sabrina. She is a 7-8 year old ex-racing greyhound lady who was also used for breeding. She has had a very long career in the racing world and really deserves her retirement home now. Sabrina is a little dark brindle girl with a beautiful silvery face. Her coat looks a little dull right now but that will improve once she’s in a good home with some good food.

Sabrina is a real little poppet, all she wants is affection. She has some of the biggest doe-eyes we’ve ever seen and once she looks at you it’s very, very hard to resist giving her a great big cuddle! She’s a complete sweetheart with a quiet and calm demeanour.

Sabrina is a very undemanding little lass, really all she needs to be happy is some yummy food and a nice, warm bed to snooze in. Oh, and plenty of hugs and head rubs! She really does love getting a fuss and will lean into you when you pet her. She will be more than content with two 20min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once a week.

Sabrina is well behaved with the other greyhounds in our kennels, even the young and bouncy ones. She has a real ‘mothering’ vibe about her, and seems to enjoy looking after the younger delinquents. She has not been tested with small dogs or cats but these can be carried out prior to adoption if required. Often ex-racing greyhounds need a bit of socialisation with smaller dog breeds as they would never have seen them before, and at the start may not realise they are dogs!

Sadly Sabrina has spent her entire life in kennels and has never been in a home environment before. New owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. She is really going to love her home comforts once she gets a taste of them.

In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as other more popular dog breeds and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.

Sabrina is currently being kennelled in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. Please note that adopters will need to travel to our nearest collection point to pick her up. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting , please email me for our adoption application form and information pack. Thanks!

Kerry Greyhound Connection is a small voluntary organisation based in County Kerry, Ireland and Norfolk, England. It operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe. We can look after approximately 70 greyhounds at any one time, in Ireland and the UK.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and given a full veterinary check before being adopted.
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, Central Europe and the USA.
