I am sure Max would accept him as long as he was lead dog in your life.

You are probably right. The only times I have seen Max put other dogs in their place, and he does, is if they get too pally with me or my wife. And that's only for bigger dogs. Little Pugs and Yorkies he is fine with. They can bark in his face, bite his tail, jump at him, on him - owners tell/shout at them to be nice. Not that they take any heed. Max is just Max.

I'd say he tolerates their somewhat aggressive antics or maybe just ignores them. We stroll on.

The jury is out. Maybe a kitten........

Just a thought on your garden security situation saw one of these once scary scary plant Colletia paradoxa.
And another thought instead of waiting for the plant to grow up why not put some baskets/troughs on the wall and plant into those while you wait for the others to grow up.

And any cuttings you take from spiny/sharp plants secure those to the top of you fence.........or thread through any trellis you have.

Also very loosely attached trellis on top of your fence works well as it collapses as people try to scramble over it.

Thanks Kazz will have a look for the plant you mentioned. Only thing about the trellis idea is that the fence will be concrete slabs and 2 metres high, so going to struggle getting up there, trellis in hand
