Mel

Mel is a medium-sized, two-year-old, female crossbreed, who came to The Mayhew on a recent rescue run. She is friendly and sociable with everyone she meets, including children, and could happily be homed with sensible children. She is very intelligent, well-behaved and knows basic commands - she is very eager to please and doesn't want to let you down. She can be timid with strangers, but once she knows you, she is very loving and affectionate, longing to cuddle up next to you. Her new guardians will be taking on a thirteen-year commitment which must not be taken lightly.

Mel loves to play with her toys, especially teddies, and loves to play with other dogs, though she can be a little too insistent in her calls to play. This sweet-natured and gentle girl is lively outdoors and calm and peaceful at home. She will need one to two hours of off-lead exercise every day. We do not know whether she is toilet-trained or how she copes with being left alone. Her new guardians will be expected to take her to training classes, not least because she would love it.

Gentle, smart little Mel would make an ideal family dog for guardians willing to include her in their daily activities and the fun of family life.
