Is this Possible???

a member has posted this on another dog forum I am on.

My friends tiny yorkie had 6 pups yesterday when they went shopping to
day they left them in a box in there kitchen when they got back the
cats had eaten them all
I would of thought it was more than likely the Mum of the pups, but has anyone else heard of this

Hi Liverbird, no I have never heard of such a thing, most dams would protect their puppies from other animals.
It is not unheard of for a dam to eat her puppies if she is stressed or disturbed during or just after whelping or she may inadvertently eat a puppy when cleaning up the afterbirth.

I wouldn't believe half of what you read on other forums, many of them are full of rubbish .

Gosh what the hell where they doing leaving them anyways!
and i agree its more than likely to have been the mum of the pups not a cat..More to the point if they were not there how the hell did they know it was the cat....more irresponsible people...and who suffered? a litter of helpless pups Tragic.

Unless they're lions - it would be the Dam

I remember from my childhood a friend's Irish Setter eating her pups.
