A friend of mine is ill

Hello,

Well on Thursday last week, the lad who walks Blackie for me, his mother looked jaundiced, so they called the doctor, he took some blood then on the afternoon they received a phone call, his mam had to go into hospital immediately! When they got there, she is was told it could be your kidney's, liver or gall bladder, they give her a CAT scan and found a mass on her pancreas and her blood sugar was 20.9 (Normal is between 4 - 7) She is waiting to be transferred to a bigger hospital about 25 miles away, a specialist cancer ward, where they are going to operate on her. She is 67 years old.

I have been on the internet to see what chances she has and it seems as though the survival rate is poor, only 2% live a further 5 years. I haven't told him this.

It is odd, they have been worried about me, now I'm worrying about her.

Ian

Sorry to hear that - you must be very worried and concerned for your friends. All you can do is what your already doing.....by being there for them and offering whatever support you can. Good luck, and take care of yourself too! XXXX

So sorry to hear this news,

there is always hope. 2 years ago my mother then aged 62 was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was told there was very little chance of survival she had no choice but to give the surgery a go. She had a whipple operation, and delighted to say she has fully recovered and is amazing.....
