If the new spectacles are able to provide the periphial vision do you think that would mean no extra mirrors etc. are needed

Thanks everyone, somewhere long ago I seem to recall reading that Gordon Brown doesn't drive because he lost the use of one eye at university, but of course it'll not bother him now he has a personal chauffeur wherever he goes
No, seeing as it was an artificial eye I can't see how glasses would improve the peripheal vision on that side

Yes it is - I know someone who had to have an eye removed and they are still allowed to drive (their job also calls for them to drive others which they can still do, they just had to retake some tests to prove they were still capable of doing the job and obviously be cleared by their doctor ).

My dad was born blind in 1 eye, he has been driving all his life, he has no more tests regarding his eye sight than the next person.
Or ever had to have a re test for his driving ability to be assessed.
It has never been an issue and he's still on the road at 67.

Thanks Leo - It seems that in some countries you need specs. and in some extra wing mirrors and there seems to be no fixed rule. I guess if the Doc. is happy for someone to drive then that's OK

Ah ha! So this is why they drive the wrong way in Tesco's car park, they're all one-eyed monsters.
