Rescue dog show - a lovely day!

Yesterday I took my 2 rescue lurchers to a charity dog show run by the people from whom I rescued my dogs. I have to say it was a bit if a handful handling 4 dogs with all the other dogs that were there but it was such a wonderful day that I want to share it with you!!
All the dogs being shown were rescue dogs. So I took Danny and Jenny along with my other 2 dogs ( and my hubby of course!!) There were about 150 dogs there in all and many different competitions along with dog portrait photography.
I had to stop myself from crying with emotion all day! It was so very heartwarming to see all the rescues and success stories but some of the stories behind them were appalling. Such cruelty
What happy dogs they are now and I've never seen so many lovely kind people in one place! We were all the same
When I get down about cruelty to dogs it makes me feel so much better to know there are so many kind people out there willing to help.
Also.....Danny won 4th place for the best in show and Jenny came 5th too in the dog you'd most like to take home category!! I'm so proud of my babies!!

What a wonderful day you had!! It is so lovely to hear that so many of these rescue dogs now have lovely homes, due to such an amount of caring people out there... I hat to hear of cruelty cases... I wish we had enough room in our house to home a rescue, one day!!!

Well done you xxxxx

Sounds like a lovely day and well done to your two on being placed - there must have been very stiff competition with all those rescue dogs in one place

What a wonderful day you had - and well done on your two for getting placed

They certainly are emotional days when you see all the rescues in the hands of people who love them , unconditionally

Well Done!

I rescued my lovely Greyhound "Milo" six weeks ago. He is a beautiful brindle boy of twenty months going on six months! As I have shown dogs for several years I have taken him to five companion dog shows since he arrived home! He has won two firsts two seconds and a fourth in the rescue classes! He even has a little trophy! I took him to my local ringcraft class just to socialise him really and he took to it like a duck to water. Think he likes showing off and being made a fuss of! Have qualified for Crufts before but nothing has made me so proud as his achievements. He was one of the lucky ones really. He broke a knee at four months old but still he was put in training. He would not chase the lure, so was put into my local rescue centre. They have all kinds of dogs but mainly Greyhounds as there is a track just up the road. My friend spotted him in the local paper and we went to see him. The rest is history! He is a lovable, naughty, happy couch potatoe and everybody loves him. Well, my Dad is cautious as Milo has nearly knocked him over twice through sheer excitement! But he is learning his little ways. He will grow out of it! Nothing compares to looking at the big teenager lying upsidedown on the sofa as we speak knowing that he did not have the best start in life. Thats about as good as it gets!

That's fantastic! You must be so proud! It's so satisfying when you see them happy at last. Good on you.

Its just the best feeling as I am sure you know. Having said that, today he has been a complete nightmare! Done fifty circuits of the garden. His own personal racetrack! Had an interview this morning for a job I really wanted. Was out in the garden in my dressing gown, hair in a towel. Would he come in? Would he heck! After ten minutes of Greyhound play he submitted. Me in a sweat. Running late. You could see the look of Ha Ha! in his eyes. Left the house. Milo crashed out on his bed. Me looking like I had been dragged through a hedge backwards. But I got the job! Therefore, keeping the dogs in the manner they are accustomed to! Just another day in my household!

What a great day you had, well done on your successes.
It's good to know there are folk willing to take on these poor dogs.
Well done too on your job, things seem to be going well for you
