Best vacuum cleaner

I have lost track of the amount of vacuum cleaners I have had over the years. None ever seem to last. I know I am tough on them with five dogs in the house, a farmer with muddy boots coming in and out, kids dropping stuff everywhere plus hoovering out the hairy pick-up truck etc.

So, having been wowed by the latest Gtech K9 vacuum cleaner advertised on TV (cordless, no bag, tiny dust compartment that compacts the hair etc) I decided to remortgage and buy one It arrived yesterday, so I don't really want to review it until I have given it a few weeks work.

Just interested in what others use and have found to be the best make and model when you have dogs.

The best was a Morphy Richards 2500 cylinder, that lasted 5 years. After buying a German 3000 watt bagless which was useless, I bought a recon Hoover Telios for £39 I think it was. Absolutely wonderful, suction that good it sticks to the carpet

After ruining various Dyson, Miele, Zanussi and Vax vacuums, I did buy cheap and cheerful ones of Tesco own brand for a while and they were great ... until they broke and usually needed replacing about once every six months

A Miele with electrohead that cost about £350 about 5 years ago, which replaced a previous Miele purchased 10 years earlier and is now used in the garage on the cars. I've had to replace the electrohead as the ex broke it and that alone cost £150. I'll cry when it packs up as they no longer make one with the electrohead and thanx to the EU they're all underpowered now.

To be honest since some idiot decreed that domestic power tools must only use a tiny motor we've gone over to industrial ones. You will NEVER get a decent vacuum cleaner with the size of motor that they are now restricted to in domestic products

This is the one which we've found the best:-

http://www.bosch-professional.com/gb...fc-6152-ocs-p/

Have had it for 10 years, very solid, and heavy (but it does have wheels), can pick up just about anything, can be used with or without bags, and best of all Bosch supply spares and accessories for 15 years.

Very happy with it and expect it to last another 10 years

We have an old Electrolux from 1975. That thing is AWESOME. But it weighs a ton.

That looks a powerful machine Losos and probably just the sort of thing I should have bought. Am enjoying my Gtech gadgety vacuum for now - but will no doubt be screaming obscenities when it stops working.

Interesting to see we all have different types, and that some are obviously better at looking after their machines than others
