Archie ~ 20th Nov 2008

I didn't think I'd have to post on this section of Dogsey for a long long time yet.

We lost wee Archie last Thursday morning when both dogs escaped from the field we were in to chase a small lorry. Archie was hit and killed instantly. I didn't think for a second when I left the house that morning that I'd be returning with one of them wrapped in a bag.

RIP my wee man. Hope you have lots of room up there in heaven for your zoomies.

He is just My Dog ~ Gene Hill

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; the way he thumps (in Archie's case; quivers) his tail at my smallest smile; the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head (paws!) on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is my dog. (Gene Hill)

Oh Evie, I am so dreadfully sorry to hear this sad news. What a terrible thing to have happened and to witness, I cannot begin to imagine the horror of seeing that.

Heaven must be a happier place with him in it, I hope he finds all the other Dogsey dogs that have gone before him to do zoomies with.

That poem was so beautiful, RIP Archie xxxx
