I havn't a clue what thing on you tube you are on about or whats happened, (I never get to see the news and don't buy papers). But when I look at all the troubles and fighting that goes on between the countries, its normally all to do with religeon and the extremists amongst them.
I always thought religeon, whichever one you follow promoted peace and forgiveness, but some turn it into evil. Such a shame for those people who genuinly want to worship peacefully.
Alexgirl I agree with all you have said, and unfortunatly I think this country breeds racism when they go overboard about, you mustn't say this or that, or you can get prosecuted. I have several friends of different nationalitys and they agree it is ridiculous how the white British have to be careful what they say and do yet the people of other nationalitys can say what they like about us without us shouting racism or any action being taken. This country has gone mad on the subject so you can hardly blame some people for the way they feel, when they in their own original country are treated by the law more harshly than other nationalitys over what might only be a slip of the tongue.

We have something called 'free speech', or we're supposed to have, as long as it doesn't upset the middle east!! There are THOUSANDS of films out there that ridicule Christians, Jews, Mormons etc and whilst most of us aren't that keen on them, I don't see many burning down embassies and killing folk over them. But say one word about Islam and all hell breaks loose, literally!!

I have friends who are muslims, I know the majority of it's followers are peaceful, well, in the west perhaps. I don't know any in the ME, but it's time the silent majority started opening their mouths and talking about how disgusting these actions are, rather than sitting back quietly and saying nothing.
Agree with all the above.

The Muslim world needs to read the Koran, it teaches tolerance, something many have no concept of, along with freedom of speech

I am very tolerant of all religions, at their core they are all very similar.

What I cannot tolerate is violence to others using the excuse of religion.

I don't care what banner you hold, murder is murder.

Precisely.

The Abrahamic faiths are all based round a key core of elements.

ALL faiths include a variety of sects which discriminate against others; both inside and to the outside. If they did not, there would not be so many denominations/movements etc within them.

Is this not the exact thing we are talking about here, the ability to have freedom of speech and how Islam seems to be in direct opposition to this?

I am a practicing Christian, very tolerant of others, I don't believe one religion on this planet has all the answers and we each have to answer to our own individual conciences and God. However in todays society, if you are white, British and of a Christian denomination it seems it is perfectly ok to have the P ripped out of you, but if you dared to do the same to anyone of a minority (in this country) religion, then you will be accused of racism, bigotry and intolerance. How is this just? But even so, you don't see much of the flag burning, hate filled mobs filling the streets of London screaming for the heads of the powers that be in the Middle East, or crying for the death of all infidels!!

Islam is a peaceful religion from what I have studied, and I have studied it rather well along with most other religions as I have a great need to understand others. However it has been corrupted and twisted, much as Christianity was in the middle ages, but we have grown past that, for the most part, and yes I know about Christian extremists too, Islam does not appear to WANT to move forward and develop an understanding and peace with others. It has stagnated and become polluted with the views of the intolerant and quite frankly, the insane! If it wishes to return to it's roots, per se, then the moderate, quiet Muslims MUST develop a voice and DEMAND that the attrocities stop, and that they are not done in their name. Until such a time, then I'm afraid muslims within this, and other countries, will be viewed with suspicion and distrust by many.

The inanity of this completely inaccurate statement is beyond belief.

Do you REALLY want some examples?!

Agree with the above, the Islam needs to come forward a few centuries , tp live peacably with the rest of the world.

I also agree the moderate need to stand up and be heard, they have influence, they NEED to use it.

I heard a chap on the radio the other day, he spoke a lot of sense, he is a British Muslim, he was he spoke of tolerance (from Islam) and the need for Muslims to read the Koran and take its teaching to heart.

The interviewer reminded him, that he was involved in riots and calling for jihads... when Salman Rushdie, or it might have been those pictures , that were published by the journalist, he was very open with his reply......"I was 16 , and went with the crown, " I was influenced by the hysteria in the mosques, at the time" he now has a mind of his own and has learnt tolerance.

All religions have been guilty of intolerance , and carried out atrocities , but the difference is for most, they have moved with the time and now don't torture, kill , oppress others with different faiths.

Islam ( across the world) has not it is set firmly in the 7th century and refuses to move forward.
