Arthritis in dogs

Barney has been diagnosed with arthritis in his front paw. He's 9&1/2 and a black lab gsd cross
What treatments have worked for everyone else?
He's currently taking glucosamine, and is taking loxicon from the vets. After that, I've been given the choice of an operation that more than likely won't work, due to his size... He's 43kg...physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, or cortisol injections
What are your thoughts?

Green lipped mussel did some good for my old lad combined with Glucosomine and Chondroitin.

I have found Yumove works very well for Ellen arthritic hips she is now able to jump in the car and doesn't seem to show any hip problems. Whilst before she used to be very stiff getting up and struggled to jump into the boot of my car.

Lynn on here recommended VetVits to me, exactly the same content as YuMove but half the price, and its worked wonders.
One of my girls had slowed down considerably, she is like a spring chicken on these, I didn't realise how much she'd slowed down until she started on these. Also Lynn uses Equine Cortisol (think its that) which may be worth looking at

If the pain gets too bad the vet might, in time, prescribe Metacam. My son's 15 year old Labrador has been on it for about two years and it has kept her going. She is still able to walk about 30 mins a day and moves around the house without too much difficulty. I wouldn't be happy allowing a young dog to take it though because the side effects can be bad for some dogs.

Nearly June equine strength Cortaflex. Dillon's elbow problems which we didn't know about till August this year were not responding to the vetvits any longer he had been on them since 6 months for the mild hip dysplasia and they helped till he was nearly 4. So can recommend them.
The Cortaflex he gets 5ml a day and he was 64kg when he started and is is now 57kg. You just need a smaller dose and his bottle has lasted him 4 months it has the fenn included with it. A natural anti-inflammatory. Its not cheap to start with at £55 for liquid or powder but in the long runs works out more economical.

Ive got my boy riaflex which has high doses of glucosamine msm and chondroitin. He was on yumove advanced but riaflex has higher levels of all the good stuff in and not as expensive. He has it as at 9 and high mileage his back legs started to get a bit clicky. Riaflex maybe worth a look. It shows comparisons to other products content on its website as well. I like the fact it's a powder as well as with yumove he was on 6 tablets a day! He had the loading dose for the recommended 8wks and cost about £90!
