walking without collars?

when out on walks with indie, like up the common. I see alot of dogs without a lead or a collar. Now does anyone think that this is ok?
I mean, yesterday for example, were 3 labradors, and they seemed to be very well trained, but didnt have any sort of collar or lead or anything.
How can the owner control their dogs effectively without them? Even if ur dog is well trained, no ones dog listens 100% of the time. But also, knowing that there are alot of nasty dogs around here, what about if another dog attacks theirs? I mean, their dog might be the best trained dog in the world, but how do u pull your dog away from a fight if another dog is clinging on without the useof at least a collar?

just wondered wot ur opinion was, as i have also seen very big powerful dogs without collars on either. I have nothin against no leads.. as long as the dog is well behaved. But collars...
I also thought it was the law that every dog has a collar and name tag. I wouldnt dream of takin indie out without at least a collar

It's illegal Jen to walk any dog in a public place without an identification tag,

I wouldn't dream of walking Jas without a collar and lead.

Hi Jenny where we used to live there was a staffy that was never on lead who also rarely had a collar on, he and Jas hated each other (they used to be friends till the hormones kicked in) It was quite scary as there would be nothing to grab if they got in a tussle.
Mine have collars and harnesses on.

Uhm soz but I have to admit that Luna goes without a collar.

If Bella is with us, Luna has her collar off, as Bella keeps tagging on to the collar and pull Luna with her.

And when we (I) bike to training she doesnt wear a collar.

But if I'm alone out on a walk with Luna, she wears her collar.

I havent met any hostile dogs here, but I do call Luna to me, when I see another dog.

But we dont have any hostile dogs around here. Yes one, but she's always kept on a leash, so no probs there.

i think it also depends on breed i wouldnt dream of taken a staff into a public place without collar and lead not were there was other dogs after all they were origanlly bred for fighting other dogs,so the trigger may still be there.

well, i was meaning... that even if ur own dog is sound.. i meant like other dogs... wot if they went for ur totally sound dog that didnt have a collar. there would be no way to get them outof the situation.

I feel uneasy around dogs with no collars.. even if they are ok.

There was this huge bullmastiff without a collar on at the pub. he wasnt very responsive to his owner but he was jus a big softy. but i still felt uneasy knowing there was no control
