Campylobacter Help!

My dog has been diagnosed with campylobacter and been prescribed erythromycin. Unfortunately it's making her terribly sick. Has anyone been prescribed anything else that's effective because the vet seems unsure what else they can give her.

Campylobacter, raw chicken, right? My mom got that from washing raw chicken. Hers just kinda had to run its course. I don't have any real advice, sorry. Hope your pup is okay.

I would be inclined to try to stick with the Erythramycin if possible. Just keep observing good hygene practices and as the AB will destroy the guts naturally occuring bacteria try adding natural probiotic yoghourt to feeds, which would be best if fed as 4 small meals a day. Whitefish or cooked chicken and rice is good - or as a ready prepared food tinned Chappie is frequently recommended.
You should find that the sickness and diarrhoea will lessen as the course of ABs work their way through the dogs system. Good luck with your poorly one.

Have you had a look at the 'similar threads' at the bottom of this page?
Also, I would ask your vet about FortiFlora sachets which help repopulate the gut flora.
