A little bit of history made yesterday

We were at the first Open show yesterday under the new groups effective from 1st June (FCI regs), Dalmatians are now Group 6, scenthounds.
Deccy was 1st Open dog, BOB then went on to win the Group! Unfortunately as we were in a field with no shade and temperatures in the high 20's, Deccy didn't want to perform in the BIS! Don't really blame him!
That makes him the first Group 6 winner in Ireland at an Open show, and the first Dalmatian to win Group 6 in Ireland any category of show.

By the way, Karen (ColonelandKaren) was there, she says sorry she's not been on recently but she is in the process of moving house and has no internet at the moment.

... because the FCI Groups are nothing like the UK ones, for example Utility doesn't exist. Poms are now in "Spitz types" along with Akitas and Elkhounds, Poodles and Bostons have moved to Group 9 which is what you would know as Toy, all Dachschunds are in a Group of their own, Afghans, irish Wolfhounds have moved into Group 10 Sighthounds, Gundog breeds are split according to breed between Groups 7 & 8, and so on.
If you think that is confusing, look on the FCI website there are definitions of all groups and loads of breeds you've never even heard of!
