Welsh springer Spaniel

Glaucoma ( Gonioscopy 1 off)
HD (Hips Scores av is supposed to be 18 but all breed clubs are in agreement it is probably a lot higher if all dogs were tested and all those tested were submitted)
Hereditary Epilepsy (No known test but work is ongoing with the heath groups here and abroad to try find the genetic marker.)

We also used to test for HC but as we havent had a single instance for ages Geoff Sampson has asked the BVA to take us off the list, and the breed clubs dont have it on there lists any longer.

Finnish Lapphund

No common conditions...most exceedingly rare

prcd-1 PRA, now <2%. All breeding stock DNA tested. No matings allowed that produce affected pups.

Hereditary Cataract, around 3%. All breeding stock eye-tested annually. Breeders recommend eye testing for pets as a precaution, but I'm unsure of take-up.

Hip Dysplasia. Not really an issue...scoring is precautionary...BMS in UK is 12

Some Finnish breeders score elbows, it is not mandatory there...and not yet in UK, although it has been discussed.

Elbow dysplasia

Subvalvular Aortic Stenosis {SAS}

Osteosarcoma { bone cancer }

Hypothyroidism

Bloat

Torn Crucial ligaments

Hate to add one more to the GSD list but when talking to a friend in another breed yesterday she said her dog had anal furunculosis & she thought this was only found in GSDs, so have to add it to our list.

Hi Sue, although the majority, approx 80% are GSDs other breeds that have been reported as having perianal fistulas include Labrador Retrievers, Irish Setters, Old English Sheepdogs, Border Collies, Bulldogs, Spaniels, and mixed breeds. Now Old English can not be docked it is possible that the incidence in that breed will rise
