Daisy-May ~ Bright as a Button - 2yo Fawn Greyhound

DAISY-MAY

**UPDATED: OCTOBER 2013**

Location: Kennels in Suffolk, UK. Daisy-May would love a foster home while she waits for her forever home.
Key Points: Very affectionate, growing in confidence, perky, friendly, engaging, eager to please, trainable, playful and goofy, dog savvy, social, not cat tested, pulls slightly on lead, good in car, not yet in a home.

Everyone please say hi to the lovely Daisy-May! She is a 2 year old greyhound girl who was lucky enough to be taken out of the pound before her time was up. We assume that Daisy-May was found to be no good at racing, but gosh what a fabulous friend she will be! Daisy-May has a beautiful fawn coat and a bright, friendly expression.

~ Personality ~
Generally:Perky, eager to please, loves people, super affectionate, trainable, goofy, perky, growing in confidence.
Daisy-May is a delightful little lady, eager to please and interact with people. She is very affectionate, engaging, and with a bit of direction she will have great trainability. Daisy-May is still a goofy pup at heart and is so playful, she loves her few minutes of loopy sprinting around in our field before collapsing down in the grass, tuckered out. She is perky and very happy in herself. We really can't wait to see her in a home setting where she can get all the interaction an stimulation she so craves.

~ In the Home ~
Generally:Not yet in a home, clean in her kennel.
Daisy-May has not been in a home environment before, so new owners will need to be a bit patient during the first couple of weeks and allow her time to settle in and learn the home rules. It generally takes 10-14 days for new greyhounds to start to settle down in a home, and really all they need is a bit of time and patience. She is choosing to be clean in her kennel, so we don’t expect house training to take very long at all.

~ Other Animals ~
Generally:Social and content in canine company, good skills, playful, polite, not cat tested.
Daisy-May is great with all other dogs, regardless of size, gender or temperment. All she wants to do is say hi and play. She does love having her canine buddies around her, so if she is going to be an only dog we will ask that you please ensure she has plenty of canine interaction each week. Daisy-May has not been tested with cats yet.

~ Out and About ~
Generally:Very social and friendly, pulls slightly, wants to see the world, good in the car.
Daisy-May is a moderately active greyhound girl who certainly does love her daily walks and the odd zoom, but will definitely not pass over the chance of a nice afternoon kip. She currently pulls slightly on the lead when starting on her walks, though is not overly strong. We expect this mild pulling is simply due to her excitement at getting out of the kennel to see the world, and thus should go away with just a small bit of training once she is in a home and getting lots of people-time. Daisy-May travels well in the car, and is a take-anywhere kind of dog, making friends as she goes.

~ Greyhounds as Pets ~
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly.

~ Where Am I? ~
Daisy-May is currently being kennelled in Suffolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK provided we have a homechecker available, but please note that you will be required to travel to us in Norfolk to meet her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Daisy-May is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Daisy-May, you can contact me (Tam) via email: tam@kerrygreyhounds.co.uk, or speak directly to Bronwen by phoning: 075 000 62648. Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs.

There are application forms for both adopting and fostering a Kerry Greyhound, and we will ask you to fill the relevant one in as the first step in the adoption/fostering process. To speed up this process, we recommend you do this before emailing/calling. You can find the forms, as well as further information on our homing & fostering procedures, on either the Adoption Page or Fostering Page .

Thank you.

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a voluntary organisation based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spread over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).

We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK. If interested in one of our hounds, please feel free to contact us.
