Loved him he was hilarious, i have all his films on DVD, me and the kids sit and watch them in hysterics !!! he actually had a god awful childhood, his father was a monster. So glad he had good life in adulthood.

He also had a fantastic singing voice, it was actually him singing in his films and a great dancer too i think.

He will be sadly missed - Mr Grimsdale.........!!!!!!

Yes he was a good singer and dancer, a real trouper as they say, I didn't know that about his childhood.

As it happensI was watching him on the review of the Goons only last night, he assisted Spike Milligan with a lot of the scripts for the 'Goon Shows' but he was too modest to say he wrote them.

He also appeared in a fairly recent episode of 'Last of the Summer Wine' he must have been 90 at least so he keept going to the end.

Will be sadly missed
