Skin ulcer

A few weeks ago, Tara had a sore looking wound on her belly. I cleaned it and applied antiseptic and it seems to have healed okay. We presumed she had caught herself on a piece of barbed wire near some rabbit burrows.

Anyway, she has another one, on her side. She has not been walked near any barbed wire and I'm sure she has not injured herself whilst out.

I think it may be an ulcer.

She suffers from hypothyroidism and is on forthyron for that. She also takes prednisone daily and has done so for the last five or so years.

Has anyone experienced this as a side-effect of meds?

Hi Maisies mum! I've just logged on to seek advice for Archies sore leg, and coincidentally found your picture which looks exactly like the same thing!
I've been putting iodine on it (when he lets me), but he keeps licking it off, and I guess its not really good for him to ingest. I would be interested to know what your vet says. I an im the process of making arrangements for a visit too....good luck!

Oooh, that does look sore Hopefully your vet will get the ulcer under control and give it a chance to heal.

Good luck and keep us informed.

I would certainly get that checked. As its not the first one I would be asking the vet to check it for autoimmune disease.
