And Tumbleweed - how is your fire not in? I have had my stove going non stop for days now. It is blinking cold up here in Scotland.

Here in England we have something called central heating, marvellous invention
It involves a boiler powered by electricity which converts gas or oil into heat and warms the water.
From there pipes run throughout the house to what are called radiators which in turn give out heat. The boiler can also enable hot water to come out of taps.
You may find it a lot better than keeping warm standing around a stove.

JOKING OF COURSE
Kilts must be a nightmare keeping legs and bits warm in deep winter for the menfolk

I don't know how old you are and it would be impolite to ask..........

But, do you remember the winter of 1962?
That was bloody cold.
The drive up to our farm wasn't clear of snow until around the end of April.

And, yes we had a fire going in the living room all the time.
