Words is words I may look to other languages, as I'm struggling between "here" and "heel". I think think they are too similar, at least how I say it!

A bit OT, did anyone see Animals do the funniest things the other day? It is usually naff, kittens falling off thing etc., but they had a lab that could read - really - and the one that blew my mind, the collie, that was shown a picture of something, then went into the next room to bring it back!

Merci

No need for another language just another word.

side or close for heel, come for here etc etc. the possibilities are endless.

As stand and sit begin with the same letter many of us who compete use back for stand to the dog does not get confused when doing positions on the move.

I use steady for heel and come in for here, so no similar words there. My lot only know English commands but I know of imports which had only been spoken to in Portuguese, and they pick up the new commands in no time at all. I don't think a specific language is important, just how you relate to your dog.

My trainer told me not to use "come" as it wasn't 100%.

I have admit I have though, as it just comes naturally!

me too, I don't like 'here' I kept saying 'come' by mistake, but I found 'come in' was better, maybe they prefer two syllabuls?

clean clean clean

that makes them go on command :>
Millie is getting the hang of it she knows Sit/focus and Flat is down no second langueges i think it might just confuse her dogs dont recognise words they recognise the sound they have very good hearing so you could in theary say the same word in another languege and they will understand because of how it sounds.

I taught my Lab a couple of commands in German years back, when he was younger and a bit more interested. Not for any particular reason though....just cos'.
