What's the best breed for me?

Well I am really wanting a border collie or a Australian Shepherd (Aussie) but I am not active. At all. I want a medium sized dog and I have a fairly large yard. I have one cat one 2 birds and 2 other dogs. Please make it cute ! What breed is right 4 me?

I think personally you need a certain level of activity to have a puppy at all as the socialising takes a lot of time and wandering around different places to make sure they are happy safe dogs when they get older.

Certainly the dogs you mention need quite a bit of exercise.

How active is "not active at all"?
As in, how often do your current dogs get walked and for how long etc

As above, puppies are definitely hard work!

Don't mean to be rude but if you already have two dogs and are 'not active at all' I assume you don't walk or exercise the two you already have?

Why would you want another dog - even a 'cute' one? Cute looking dogs still need exercising. And just the work of training them from puppyhood involves quite a bit of 'activity'.

At any rate, both Border Collies and Aussies are working dogs that require a lot of physical exercise and a job to do. If running about in the garden is all you can offer it, your 'cute puppy' could easily turn into a fearful and aggressive dog.

If you want advice on what breed would suit you, then we need to know a lot more.

How much do you plan on walking your dog?

Are you interested in any dog sports or plan on starting in one with your pup?

How much grooming are you willing to do?

Do you want a dog that is easy to train (but can be easily stressed and quick to react) or a dog that is more laid back and can take a lot without getting 'off balanced'?

it won't let me edit. I am changing this to say,

What breed is right for me? I'm able to walk him/her everyday and we have a big backyard and a rather big house. We have 2 other dogs one is very old but I'm just examining some breeds. We have one cat and 2 birds also. It would be able to roam free and get on anything and it has to be some what compatible with small children. A medium sized breed. We have one 11 year old kid living with us. We would be able to groom him once or twice a week, and we are not planning on showing him or competing in any sport whatsoever. And it should be a basic level of ease to train . Thanks!!!!!

Considering you have in another post say you have given a dog away to get a cat and are now crying and wished you hadn't my advice would be do not get another dog.

I cannot believe you are being serious at all about anything you are posting on this site it is all so random.

Not related to your post, but who`s dog is in your profile? It stuck me that you have a chi and a cross breed, so i am guessing the dog in your avatar is not yours, I hope you have permission to use that pic, and have not downloaded someone else's dog to put in your avatar
