If you do go for a van get a Turbo one ...anything else and you'll be going so slow even you'll be embarrassed by it LOL

I'm a market trader & I drive a renult Kangoo van and love it... but...

The drawbacks with a van are:

At a sharp junction you will find it very difficult to do your observations due to no rear passinger windows. Also idiots will get in your way 'cos even though your indicating one way you have to position the van as though going the other way to see down the road. (It's hard to explain, you might have to test drive a van to realize what I mean)

No rear window or rear view mirror, to reverse you just have your wing mirrors to go by = huge blind spot.

Insurance... I've been driving my van for 4 yrs, no accidents or damage, this yr cost me just over £600 (live in a 'bad area') Also you can forget about having a huge choice of insurers to shop around with as alot of insurers won't touch vans with a barge pole (vans are more likely to be targeted by criminals apparantely)

If I wasn't a market trader & just wanted a vehicle, I'd go for the Kangoo car option, as with this you have the size of the van but with more windows, rear view mirror, more affordable insurance.

If you needed something just a little bigger than a Kangoo, the Berlingo is slightly bigger (only by a few inches I think though)

Also another thing to note, I havn't checked your profile & don't know anything about you so please don't take this the wrong way, It may help someone else if it doesn't apply to you. Depending on when someone passed their test they might not be licenced to drive a van. I passed mine a long time ago so am licenced to drive vans, but after a certain date the law changed & now someone has to apply seperatly to be licenced to drive a van.

I had this issue as I only passed my test 4 years ago ...You can drive up to a 3.5 tonne rigid axle Van on a normal driving licence anything bigger and you need to take another test Most transits are this weight or below I was even looking LWB transit before I settled on the escort

I'm seriously tempted by a van now!
My BC and gundog x find it easy - but would probably find it easier with a bounce board.

Gabe (GSD x) has to be helped....and I do not like them jumping down alone. (they climb on my shoulders)

There are plenty of options to have side windows now - I specified that when I was looking for this Van.

No rear window or rear view mirror, to reverse you just have your wing mirrors to go by = huge blind spot.

Even the ones with a windows are not that easy

Hmm.....I am with Direct line....first year of being insured on a van....mine is £300

I think it only applies over a certain weight limit...maybe 3.5 tonnes?
I was driving for Tescos and as long as you had a standard licence you were permitted to drive their vans (which were 3.5s) I passed my test in 1999

I've got an ex police Puegeot Expert Van 2.1 Turbo diesel.
Snapped it up on eBay.
I've had it just over a year & love it.
The back is caged (it's a mobile cell van) & I have a cage in the middle section too.
It holds loads of luggage as well as the 4 Dogs.
