do you lift your large dogs into the top crates? id love something like that but honestly the thought of having to lift a large dog into a crate that high does nothing for me we a scenic which i think is perfect for ty and one other gsd (sometimes take one of my mums out with us) or i suppose (although never tried it) take the back seats out and just have a dog guard up behind the front seats

I have a Vauxhall Zafira. I chose this as it's not too big but the back seats slide forward to make a bigger boot space. I have 2 lurchers, a greyhound, a collie and a collie cross and they all fit in!!

Just swapped one of our cars for a Transit, and wished we'd done it years ago, dogs are currently still in their trans k9 boxes, but the next thing is to get it caged out, i find the van fine for parking, no different to a car once used to it

I'm eyeing up those vans with the crates - how much did it cost to kit the vans out with crates?
I used this guy - he is well known in agility and so I checked him out with some friends first. Told him how much I could afford and what I wanted....and left it up to him.

I got the Van last year, it flew through its MOT this year - the garage said it had been really well maintained.

I had a Vito before - a friend kitted that out and it cost about £300, would never have a Vito again - had so many issues with it.
I did want a transporter - but my budget got slashed - and actually - I could not be more pleased with the dispatch.
I have a friend who has a VW caddy - fitted out a bit like Muddiwax's , but I doubt would fit greyhounds in that way.

I have a Mercedes Vito, and I love it!! I got two 54" crates from Croft, bit expensive but the beauty of them is I can take them out if I have to put anything in my van like furniture and stuff!! I fit 2 big dogs in each and they have plenty of room. I made a shelf for the back so I have storage underneath and the other crate is behind the seats, I took the metal panel out so I can see them and it isn't too dark. The other thing about it is, it has three seats so as I only ever really have just two passengers it works really well.
I searched for ages to get just what I wanted and I am really pleased with my Vito and it drives just like a car.

We briefly changed to a van but the cons outweighed the pros for us. Shopping/holidays etc were a nightmare as previously with a car we had the dogs in the boot so the back seat was free for luggage and shopping in the van we had no such room. Also (we had 3 dogs at the time) even lifting a small dog up high was no fun when they were wet and muddy. Lack of visibility when driving was not nice either I never realised previously how much I relied on being able to see all around when driving.
We now have a Honda CRV which has ample room for dogs in the boot area and our back seat takes our luggage or shopping. We love the split boot door too as you can open the top part of the door and put on leads etc before opening the bottom to let them out.

How hard is it to get dogs into the top cages?

And what height does a van generally have to be to fit four cages in like that?

I'm seriously tempted by a van now!
