Handstripping!

Phew!

Have just finished a week-long handstripping marathon and Archie actually looks like a dog again!

had to get all that hair off as I'm going away for a month and if I left it there would be no Archie when I got back... just a huge, overheated ball of fluff

Does Archie mind the handstripping?
We do JJ and he's not to bad, people have told us to us stripping knives or coat kings and while i have used a coat king now and again i prefer the handstripped look.

What does a coat king do? Does it cut the hairs or pull them out?

It cuts the hairs out. You just run the Mars Coat King through the fur like when brushing or combing and the fur combs out.
I do use it on JJ's legs and by his tail as well but i then lightly handstrip over the areas and everywhere else is handstripped.

If your dogs coat should be hand stripped then a coat king will damage it.
I only use them on dogs that have a lot of under coat but are not wire haired.
I would only use on a wire coat if the dog is a pet and the hardness of the coat is not an issue.
