It was supposed to be a straight forward phone call . . .
. . . . to the vets to book Pop into the vets for her boosters but no, nothing's ever simple in my life
The phone call went something like this:
Can I book Poppy in for her boosters please?
Yeah - no problems, what's your surname?
Rose
tap, tap, tap Oh it's you Leanne, we've been trying to ring you but can't get through on your landline
(getting a bit worried) I have moved house and my land lin'e been cut off - Why?
We were wondering if you could help us? A man brought a lovely little whippet cross dog that he wanted us to pts cos it can't hunt as it's blind
Oh!!!
And because you helped us out with the Cockers*, and with what you've done with Bailey we we're kinda hoping you could possibly take this little man on and train him up to cope better and if you decide not to keep him we'll help you re-home him, he's such a lovely little thing, far too nice to be pts
Okaaayyy, what's the details on him? wots he like with other dogs? neutered?, condition?
He seems fine with other dogs, we think he's part of a litter bred for hunting but obviously he can't, the guy who brought him in isn't a regular customer and Steve (the vet) talked him into handing him over instead of pts, he's not neutered but Steve says we can sort that out at a later date
K, I'll pop through and have a look at him ( I know, I know, totally shouldn't have done that!!!) but what can I say he's gorgeous
So yup, you've guessed it, he's come home with me
His names Billy
so need to change that far too similar to Bailey
He can sit, paw and he's really good at bumping into stuff
but he has no doggy manners
He seems to have taken to Bailey
and I'm on constant 'scruffing' alert but so far Bailey's only whined at him, Kiara however isn't impressed at all, every time he goes near her she growls at him!! She's such a grumpy pooch - she'll be playing with him in a week
So anyway here he is exploring the garden:
and finally settling down
Kisses goodnight
Any name suggestions also welcome
God knows what the OH is gonna say when he gets home
* They had a litter of Cocker pups dumped on their doorstep a year or so ago and they were all in various stages of going blind! One was completely blind
They rung me to ask if I could help them out as all the staff had taken a pup on
but needed some pointers so I went down and gave tham a crash course
and have spoken to them over the phone about training issues since
