my eldest dog was overweight i couldn't find a dog food for her and fed her on a home diet she lost the weight and is very happy now i still have to keep an eye on my parents(moved back in with them and the weight began creeping back),and tell them we are being cruel to be kind by not treating her all the time my dad is the worst offender
well done you for getting help and being brave and sticking to it

Yes, it is all worth while - she is a happier pup and I must admit, a better looking one!

I think we have about another couple of weeks to go, but we will get there!

I think that my main problem was that the training class I went to used "food" as a training tool.

Sit - get a bit of sausage - drop - get a bit of sausage - and so on.

We did a bit of training - about 3 times a day, so she got a fair bit of sausage!

Then, I gave her - her dinner!

Not good. Always deduct the treats from the dinner!!!

But I didn't do that!!!

No wonder she got fat!

Absolutely love the little one -she is my companion.

Hi Dogbreath sounds as if you are doing well with your puppy, please post some pictures of her.

Some sausage have a very high fat content, have you considered using tiny pieces of cooked chicken or baked liver instead?

I braise thin slices of liver in a little water then cut it into tiny pieces and bake in the oven until crisp, they are great for training, have a low fat content and don't get messy in hot weather
