The two I'm joined to are both pro rescue and I know they don't tolerate any chat about breeding or advertising gp babies for sale etc.

TBH, I have no interest in breeding or showing myself, just interested in keeping the ones in my care as fit, healthy and happy as I can, so no breeding talk is fine with me. But I can understand that it may be frustrating for the likes of yourself who could offer good advice on more specialist care for the likes of the skinnys etc.

These two love celery as well as baby carrots. Cucumber is a firm favourite. I haven't tried them with any cabage as yet; I've heard not to go overboard with it as it can be gassy for them. I'm doing some piggy shopping tonight so will buy them some then to introduce.

It can be, but mine love it! They also like Kale but its high in calcium and can cause bladder stones if fed too much or too often. I feed mine as much fresh grass as they will eat, its good for them and its free.

What gets my goat, is when people ask questions about breeding, say they've bought a pair of pigs, ones been mis-sexed so the other is pregnant - and they suggest a spay! Its insane in an animal so small.... they are totally oblivious to the risks involved for the sow but hey thats another thread

I had bought a bag of kale when we got them. I looked it up before feeding it and seen it was high calcium so only fed a little. Most of the bag went in the bin cos none of us are keen on it, lol.

Grass is collected daily for these two. Either from the fields surrounding the rescue kennels where I work (I know the landowner, no treatments added to the fields) or out on our walks in the woods. I've been building up how much I give them over time, since they never had any before we got them. They LOVE it! I think I'll have to limit how much I put in the cage at any one time though, cos when I lifted them out for floor time yesterday a few hours after eating the grass, their bellies were feeling very full.

I'd be interested to know what your opinions are on this diet please;

It seems very excessive, I've been breeding and rearing pigs for 7 years and the 4 c's have never done me wring before. By all means if you have the money then go for it, I'd be interested in the results...

Mine get Rabbit pellets, Vit C in the water plus at least one item of fresh veg per day, plus fresh grass (or dried grass if its raining or in the middle of winter) bran and tons of hay. Hay should make up at least 90% of their diets

Thanks for that. I'd heard that the vit c added to the water actually gets destroyed within about 15min of it being added and that the flavour can put some piggies off drinking.

Though with the fresh veg and added vit c in the piggy pellets, I reckon mine should be getting enough.

Yes, they get unlimited hay to graze at all day long, though they reckon fresh grass is so much better.

It's great to hear others opinions on food and what they feed. Thanks for sharing.
