howling

Norty Hector has started howling when I go out.
I stuff him a bone, fill his treat ball, give him new toys ( kept for this purpose only ) keep the radio on , confined to the kitchen.
I've tried everything except a gag

What else can I do??????????????

maybe confine him to a different room? or change the routine that u go out, ie leave thru a different door?

or start from step one and gradually increase the times u leave again so he knows ur coming back? does he howl when u leave the room? or just when u leave the house?

Does he spend time away from you when you are at home?

He's 8 months old.

He only howls when I go out but he does spend time on his own in the day.
OH was in the house this morning when I was out so the problem lies with me , over attachment do you think, if so how do I cure this.

hes a mummys boy!
get another leo! or bring him round to ours the more the merrier.
no honestly i never had this problem with tob i'm with him all day and leave him but no howling.
is it only when you go out? are you sure its not him talking leo style? sound like wookiee in the star wars films.the only thing i can think of is put him in another room and build the time up.
is there any thing new that could be triggering him off?
seems strange he 8 months and only just started to do it.
has any thing changed that hes un sure about???? after all they are big babies for a long time.

Hectormum i have the same problem here. I work from home, so Olive is rarely on her own, but when she is she howls the place down. She can go at it for 2 hours solid . I'm trying loads of things to stop it but nothing seems to be getting through to her. She also barks if she locks herself in a room, so that we come and get her. I've started ignoring her and only go get her once she has stopped barking and this seems to be working.

If I leave him in the kitchen when anyone else is at home he howls, but if I leave the back door open as well then he's happy as Larry. He does do the Leo talk but this is definatly a howl cause I've stood in the street and listened.
Luckily I have the best neighbours in the world who also have dogs so they know all the normal puppy problems.
The kitchen is the only room that's not open plan so anywhere else is not an option.
