Obedience

I have a now 4 month old westie cross dandie dinmont terrier puppy, and Florrie is very eager to please. I was wanting to know a few facts on Obedience.
Do they have to be pedigree to compete?
How do you get started?
any advice appreciated
best wishes

Dogs have to be registered to enter Open shows so if the dog is a crossbreed you need to register on the working trial register. Check out the KC website as you have to get the form from them.

They will also have a list of dog clubs in your area so you could check them out to see if they have classes for competition obedience.

Just seen on another post that you live in Coventry. They have a dog club that also runs a Champion obedience show. The k.c should be able to give you a contact name or look on the obedience website

OOh very appealing, she is such a sweetie, and loves to work and please, i am trying my hardest to get her up to good working standars like my JRT, but that isnt going to well, she prefers to play with vermin then kill them!
But i am very intersted in doing this with her, as for names mmn i think 'Oh what a midsomers night'mare' LOL!
Where could i purchase a show lead by the way?
best wishes

for obedience you can have any lead,i like ragger type ones that they can tug at & play,on that web site look down the left hand side & click on training lines.
