Panting lots - breathing funny????

Woody's been abit out of sorts today.

He was uninterested in his food at both breakfast and lunch, has been drinking alot more than usual and very, very destructive.

I did some training with him earlier and he seemed quite frantic and was panting alot.

I've given him a fresh bowl of water and put him to sleep in his crate, but he's not breathing normally. It's very fast and he's panting???? It's not hot in here (I'm freezing) and he hasn't been specifically energetic.

Any ideas?

Is he still doing it?
Panting and rapid breathing can be caused by being hot, exercise, excitement or nervousness, but can also be an indicator of pain.

He's definitely not hot, excited or exercised (he's been sleeping) and I've run my hands all over him to see if it's pain.

Mouth looks fine, no signs of red or swollen gums.

I just can't think what it is. Doesn't seem serious, but it is worrying.

Puppies like babies are put on earth specifically to worry you to death quite honestly. Just keep an eye on him it's probably nothing. One of mine has panting heavy breathing sessions quite a lot when sleeping he's no doubt dreaming of something exciting.

I think that if you are still worried then I would ring the vet and have a chat. If he hasn't got a temp or and injury and he is not over excited or nervous, then I would ring the vet hun.

This is the sort of behaviour you would expect of a dog in pain or with a high temperature so I would ask the vet to take a look at him sooner rather than later.

He seems absolutely fine now. He hasn't slept much today (he seems to fight it, like a child!) so we've been playing light, calming games with him and he seems much better.

Is sleeping like a baby, normal breathing, by my feet. I think it was just a moment of excitement, but I'll keep my eyes on him.

Thanks all xx
