Dog fasting tips needed

So my dog has been having bad watery diarrhea. I'm 90% sure it's inflammation from the rawhide I gave him and now I need to fast him. He's currently at 14 hours and I'm going for 24.
a couple of websites recommended 24 - 48 hours. Should I just go for the whole 48 hours just to be on the safe side? He has been having diarrhea every few hours for days now.
If this fasting doesn't work I'm going to take him to the vet, but for right now I want to get some fasting tips for the 48 hours.
Since he isn't eating, he's also not really drinking. I have been taking him for walks, but he's not really interested in drinking. I gave him some ice chips and he seems to be okay with that. Can I give him some chicken broth or would that upset his stomach into thinking its food?

I have never fasted a dog, having a completely empty stomach will just cause him to bring up bile as the stomach acids have nothing to work on. If mine have had the squits I would still give them a couple of dollops of natural yoghurt and some scrambled egg.

thanks for the reply.
what kind of yogurt do you recommend? I'm sure he's going to need some probiotics from his ordeal.

Any organic live bio yoghurt will do.
