Landline phone Recommendations wanted

My land line phone(s) appear to have kicked the bucket. I have had them since I moved here in 1996.

I bought new batteries in case that was the issue, but 48 hours later, no lukc.

So, it looks as though I need to buy replacements.

So, anyone got a recommendation? I need the following:

Twin phones
Answerphone

I do not need any fancy doodads on it apart from caller display

Any colour except white

Wall or desk mounted

Well I went to fondle some fones today and came away with the BT Inspire, charging as we speak. No fancy colour screens, but appears to fit my bill (and my hand) and it was on offer.

Let us know how you get on, I am terrible at choosing phones and they never last, need a new set, does that one have batteries too, cos we never have a phone (except mobiles and always out of credit when it's essential) in a power cut cos these new fangled ones don't work without power
