Helena, I have just read through from post 159 and I know what a terrible few days you must have had. I've had to let a few days pass before I could make this reply and I'll PM you.

After reading #269 I am sat here in tears. How lucky he was to find you to spend the rest of his days with.

I can't think of anything to say to make you feel better - I am thinking now of all the beloved 4 legged friends I've loved and lost.

I have a most poignant poem a Kiwi friend of mine wrote after his (working) dog died. But as it is guaranteed to make anyone cry their eyes out even if they've never lost a pet - I don't think I will post it.

I've only found it possible to talk about my last dog without crying since I got the new one (2 yrs later). I can now think about and talk about her precedessor (usually comparing her with this little minx) and actually laugh thinking of some of her antics.

Huge hugs and prayers for you tonight Helena. You gave sweet Georgie the best retirement home he could have hoped for. He was loved, cherished, cared for and in the end, treated with respect and dignity. Thank you for loving Georgieboy. My heart goes out to you.

Thanks again everyone, for your very kind wishes for us now that we are left without our boy.

The vet rang me last night, Georgie's ashes are ready for collection, but I just can't bring myself to go yet, coz it'll hit home and hard, and I just don't feel quite ready yet. Maybe tomorrow.

I'm so sorry to hear about Georgie.

Nothing can be said to ease the pain.....only time can heal.

I hope Zena's coping, as I know it can be hard on the other dog.
Give her loads of hugs.

My heart goes out to your family. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
