I qualified for Crufts yesterday

Only to lose it today.

It was in a YKC obedience class, but as my 25th birthday is the first day of Crufts, I am no longer eligable to compete. If Crufts was a day sooner, or my birthday a day later, it would have been ok.

Distraught doesn't even cover it. Taking my own dog to Crufts has always always been a dream since I was a child.

What a shame - try doing the kcgc pre beginner classes - winners qualify I think!
Probably similar to YKC classes

Are there any more shows coming up that you could try at?

Well cheer up. Just because you did not get to take her this year does not mean you cannot do it at all in the future.

Plenty of people fail to qualify for Crufts in whatever discipline, they just try again the next year.

I am not sure if entries have closed for the KCGCDS Pre beginner stakes. Also, have you looked on Obedience UK to see if you are eligible to try out for the Regional Obedience Competition held at Crufts?

There are so many ways to go to Crufts, via the showring, flyball, agility, as well as representing a section of dogs days out, the KCGCDS, Working Trials, PAT dogs etc.

Get the schedule when it comes out and start thinking about 2014 if you cannot make 2013!

Jinty is still very young so there is plenty of time and plenty of opportunities open to you.

ETA just checked the last closing date for the last KCGCDS Stakes was August.

But I didnt fail - I qualified, thats what hurts the most.

And Jinty is limited in what she can actually get into Crufts for; I cant "show" her as she isn't a recognised breed, we can't do flyball their as they have their "own" rules and won't lower the jumps for smaller dogs.....obedience is alot fiercer at normal level....small dogs cant work superglued to the leg like mals and collies. I didnt see any small dogs this year.....

She'd kick ass in the "Crufts got talent" or whatever that was but dont think they're doing it again.

Sigh.
