Alcatraz prison wing

Wide angle lens tends to make sides slope in please ignore that

What you don't see is the area behind the cells where they escaped through

Alcatraz was shut due to rusting ironwork in the concrete

The Morgue 1910 -1963

Not forgetting the hole they escaped through from the cell

A couple of shots not on the tourist brochures

Lacey the atmosphere is still there. How hard must it have been for the inmates behind bars at night hearing fun and female laughter across the bay in SF.

2000 yards away

We stayed in fishermans Wharf right on the bay itself. just one of the places we went to while there

My brother went, he still talks about it to this day, we were looking for his record of achievement for his new job....couldn't find that but found his Alcatraz piccies. I bet he wishes he had a digital camera then instead of film

From a photographers point of view - Two locations I've always fancied visiting for some reason. Thanks for sharing.

Ansel Adams territory.

Phil

well worth it, we also did a film tour bullet was shot and many others, did the proverbial cable car ride and the clam chowder is something to die for food wise.

I also did a video of walking along to pier 39 and on it as well, but too long to put onto you tube
