Puppy Advice?

We are hopefully getting a puppy next week (subject to home check) :smt026

Anyone have any preferences between collars or harnesses. Obviously, the dog will have a collar and tag anyway but when walking what do you prefer?

Our previous dogs had a collar and lead but are adult now and use harnesses. I personally prefer the harness as I feel I have full control of them but is it better for a puppy?

Any advice gratefully received

If the puppy is a puller then a harness can damage the developing shoulder bones and joints and 'spread' the chest. Not saying don't use one - just something to be aware of I prefer to use a flat collar on a young puppy.

Good luck, hope pup is yours very soon

Deff a collar. Use it wisely and teach your pup manners from day one and you wont need a harness

Ive always just used a collar and lead on a puppy as if you go to puppy training classes that is what they advise and teach the pup to walk to heel

I do sometimes use harnesses now on my two if we go on a long walk

I used both a collar and a harness but to be perfectly honest a collar should do

Thanks all, a collar and lead it will be

Our border collies that wear harnesses are both fully grown (7 now , where does the time go?) and only one is a puller, and that is because she just wants to get to the field ASAP
